How are hot air balloons assembled?
Unlike an airplane, a balloon is an airship that needs to be assembled before every flight; first of all, the wind direction is to be determined. When the wind direction is determined, all the equipment of the balloon is unloaded. The basket and burner are assembled and then connected to the gas cylinders by special hoses; later the pilot verifies that the burners work properly.
Then the gondola is tipped over on its side, because the balloon needs to be inflated laid on the ground. The envelope is stretched towards the wind and then is attached to the basket.
Through a mechanism known as quick release, the balloon is tied to the ground crew vehicle. Finally the balloon is ready to be inflated.
