What kind of gas is used in these balloons?
Usually, gas balloons are filled with hydrogen and occasionally with helium. Hydrogen is cheaper than the second one, and it is 14 times lighter than the air, but it is flammable. A few basic precautions are more than enough to handle it safely. On the other hand helium is a lot more expensive and scarce besides it is only seven times lighter than the air, but it is an inert gas i.e. non-flammable.
