This kind of question I hear very often in different ways. It is pretty common the passengers do not have the knowledge of the balloons rarely landing at the same place due the wind behavior, the landing depend of several factors, one of that factors can be the prevailing wind who is the main factor to determine the distance, also, the decision of each pilot, because we must to consider each flight is different.
The wind is the same for all the balloons, but, keep in mind the wind is different on each altitude. It is important to notice each change the pilot determine could be affect the direction of the balloon, for example stay more or less time in the same altitude, at less the purpose is follow another balloon or could be land near to another balloon, usually each balloon land a different place even two balloons take off at the same time and place, nevertheless they can find far away in the sky.
