Why are gas balloons smaller than hot air balloons?

The reason is the lightness of the gases inside each balloon. As we have seen before it takes 3 cubic meters of hot air to lift 1 kilogram. To lift a hot air balloon with a pilot and two passengers, an approximate load of material and people from 550 to 600 kilograms would require an envelope of at least 1800 cubic meters. Gas balloons are usually filled with a thousand cubic meters of fuel to lift a weight of a thousand sixty kilograms.
